Victoria – Oboe & Piano

Victoria Pho received her Bachelor’s degree in Music and Biochemistry at Northern Illinois University (NIU), where she studied oboe with J. Ricardo Castañeda.  During her time at NIU, she was a member of the NIU Wind Symphony, Wind Ensemble, Philharmonic Orchestra, Chinese Music Ensemble, Middle Eastern Ensemble, Gamelan, and has subbed for the Kishwaukee Symphony Orchestra and Dekalb Municipal Band.

Victoria has been involved in music most of her life, taking piano lessons since a very young age. Aside from having private lessons, she has participated in the Granquist Music Competition for piano and performed at the American Grands Piano Concert annually for many years.  She was also involved in the Achievement in Music (AIM) Program, a comprehensive theory and performance curriculum comprised of 14 levels of achievement for piano students, which is sponsored by the Illinois State Music Teachers Association.  In addition, she has participated annually in Solo and Ensemble Festivals, obtaining district and state Class A Gold Medals for both oboe and piano.

Victoria enjoys working with children and has taught private oboe lessons at Marmion Academy in Illinois in addition to her own private studio for both piano and oboe students.  She looks forward to continuing teaching lessons and instilling her love of music to other students.
